Mononoke is indeed a great anime (though if you are checking it, first see the last three episodes of Ayakashi -Samurai Horror Tales-, where the main character first appears). There’s also a story with a Zashiki-warashi (using the grimmer part of its lore).

Neat. I have never seen that show. I will have to look for it.

I think that one of the interesting things about these totally unknown yokai is that it leaves a lot up to the imagination, and you can do pretty much anything you like with them.

Tis yokai appears in the anime “Mononoke´´, where it takes the form of a humanoid fish with a biwa and one eye. It asks the characters it´s major fears, and if they lie about it, this Umi-zatô makes the characters suffer their major fears via an hallucination.
